Hello #Slashtag I want to recommend the #Borat sequel on #AmazonPrime. It’s as funny as the first one in my opinion and every American should watch it before the election. @slashfilmcast
Alice Junior, a teen dramedy from Brazil about a transgender high schooler moving from the big city to a small town. New to Twitter so I hope these recommendations make it to you! Keep up the great work I love listening to your show! #slashtag
My wife and I are currently consuming films of regular length and shorts for the Milwaukee film festival and wanted to share with you a couple highlights! Shiva Baby, a fantastic comedy/drama/horror? Small Town Wisconsin, pretty good dramedy, and... #slashtag
You all should check out BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky on Netflix and possibly cover it on Patreon. Even as someone that doesn’t actively listen to K Pop, I found it interesting. I also love when you all cover documentaries. #slashtag
#slashtag There’s a documentary called “Totally Under Control” you should watch. Written by Alex Gibney of “Going Clear” fame, it’s about Covid and our current Administrations response to it. It’s so well put together, it’s kinda stunning
#Slashtag this would be a great film for you guys to cover, proper feel-good. We could all do with more films like this in the current climate. twitter.com/Aiannucci/stat…
Podcast Recommendation: Master of One mof1.network
It's a great podcast, fun banter, and focuses on Art/Design/PopCulture. I am not an artist or designer, but do collect things and watch movies and can't wait until these episodes come out every Wednesday. #slashtag
@slashfilmcast Has anyone else watched Jason Segel's Dispatches from Elsewhere? It's so weird, autobiographical, and a mediation on creating/selling out/connectedness. #slashtag
When I picture a utopia in my mind, I think of grey suits, crunchy guitar licks, and David Byrne. So yeah, they pretty much nailed it.
David Byrne's American Utopia, directed by Spike Lee, premieres tonight on @hbomax. pic.twitter.com/tGjb5LEBOO
I assume, @slashfilmcast, that you’ll be watching and discussing #TrialOfTheChicago7 soonish? I know @jeffcannata can’t resist a Sorkin offering! I can hardly wait to hear his and all your thoughts. (I LOVED it.) #slashtag
The Mole: Infiltrating North Korea. Insane 2-part documentary about two amateur spies infiltrating North Korea. Can't believe this is real. bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08…#slashtag
Idea for @slashfilmcast: A review of Alex Gibney's new documentary "Totally Under Control", a look inside the Trump administration's response to Covid-19, juxtaposed to a review of "The West Wing Special." #slashtag@jeffcannata@davechensky@Devindra
@Devindra check out Soulmates on AMC. Showrun by my dad pal* Will who wrote the USS Callister and Shut Up & Dance episodes of Black Mirror. Bill Skarsgård. Sarah Snook. Costabile. Curious what you think. #slashtag
*our kids are besties.
I just came across academy award nominated 1988 doc "Lets Get Lost". It follows the 'James Dean of Jazz', Chet Baker a year or so before he fell out of window and died. The film has grainy black and white Jarmusch-like quality that I found mesmerizing. #slashtag
Can we please get another hour of @jeffcannata and @Devindra talking about Ted Lasso? It made me almost as happy nodding my head in furious agreement as they extolled the show's goodness and optimism as watching the show itself. Will Patreon whoever whatever. #TedLasso#slashtag
#slashtag I just watched SHITHOUSE which is showing online for Mill Valley Film Festival and at least the first half feels like a high @jeffcannata recommendation.
Pen15 on Hulu - an absurd & hilarious portrayal of the millennial middle school experience that is surprisingly heartfelt & relatable to any viewer who ever felt vulnerable in their teen years (AKA everyone) #SlashTag
#slashtag perhaps the @slashfilmcast crew will go into the back catalog and watch Phone Booth. I think it’s a very interesting take on a single location type film. @RealKiefer is fantastic in it.
@slashfilmcast#slashtag please review Cuties on Netflix. Although I agree with the below, there are some parts I found uncomfortable in the depiction. I also wonder how it compares to The Florida Project. @Devindratwitter.com/ComplexPop/sta…
@jeffcannata@davechensky@Devindra If you are like me and aren’t in the mood for a scary movie, I highly recommend the Tree House Horror playlist on Disney+. A couple highlights are Guillermo Del Toro’s opening sequence, The Coraline parody, and the Mad Max episode. #slashtagpic.twitter.com/duJlTIwzI3
Any #SlashTag recommendations for a couple that hasn’t seen many scary Halloween flicks? Jump scares just ain’t cool but I feel like I’m missing out on so much!
#slashtag STAGED. David Tennant and Michael Sheen playing themselves in lockdown right now. Very funny show, I could relate to Tennant trying to avoid home schooling! BBC One
Only one episode in, but Showtime’s The Good Lord Bird is worth a watch. It’s about John Brown who helped free slaves toward the end of the Civil War. It’s full of great performances and it’s got an interesting tone with a surprising amount of humor at times. #slashtag
@Chachzilla A month later and this show continues to surprise and delight. Seems to hit on a lot of themes Dave, Devindra and Jeff like to chew on. It doesn't seem to be on the cultural radar at all on film twitter. Is it hard to stream in the U.S. or something? #slashtag
One of the reasons I keep Twitter around is to recommend shows and movies to @davechensky@Devindra and @jeffcannata using the hashtag #SlashTag. Speaking of recommendations, I have some for things on Shutter.
@davechensky@Devindra@jeffcannata The Color Out of Space. A fantastic adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name. Maybe the best Lovecraft adaptation. Captures the tone and spirit of the story beautifully while providing its own visual flair. #slashtag
@davechensky@Devindra@jeffcannata Last thing I’ll recommend from Shutter is Noroi: The Curse. It’s a found footage/mockumentary film from Japan and it is amazing. This film is found footage/mockumentary done right. It is just an amazing film #slashtag
#slashtag in light of everything going on politically right now, you guys MUST watch THE CANDIDATE (1972) starring Robert Redford. It’s the most relevant movie I’ve seen in a long time, and it’s fantastic. @jeffcannata@Devindra@davechensky@slashfilmcast
#slashtag@jeffcannata@Devindra@davechensky Vampires vs. The Bronx (Netflix) is the best horror comedy of the year. But it's also sad and angry when it needs to be. The brilliant premise, equating gentrification with vampirism, is just the beginning.
