#slashtag I know your all's mileage with the Kingsmen series has varied but I'd still highly recommend The King's Man. It is a peculiar war film for sure, but ends up having a stirring anti-war message that really elevates Kingsmen as a franchise in my estimation.
#slashtag After watching The Rescue, I felt like watching another documentary and came across 14 Peaks on Netflix. I can't recommend it enough. Nims, the Nepalese climber at the center of it, is absolutely fascinating and captivating.
Black Summer on Netflix is a _ride_. Really good acting punctuated by crazy action scenes and tons of "oners" that hold you in the scene. S1 was good but S2 was fantastic. #slashtag

Succession is a great TV show, but Landscapers on HBO is a great piece of art.
4 episodes long. Amazing, unique and surprising direction. Unsurprisingly great performances by fantastic actors. I believe it to be right in the @jeffcannata wheelhouse.
Go in blind.

Just watched the new doc Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck in Time, an inspiring & heartbreaking film by @BobWeide. If you’re one of the people like me whose outlook on life was majorly shaped by reading Vonnegut, you must seek this out. #slashtag@VonnegutDoc
#Slashtag - Identifying Features.
A disregarded post apocalyptic side of the Mexican Border Crisis. @davechensky I think this could have been a contender of your 2021 best of list.
#slashtag I know you all seemed to like or love Nine Days, which I loved too.
As a perfect chaser, please watch *After Life*. Hirokazu Kore-eda’s 1998 masterpiece. It’s on Criterion Channel or DM me for other options. I watched it bc I loved Shoplifters. I think you’ll LOVE it.
Just want to add my top Aussie flick of 2021 to the #slashtag : Nitram. A riveting portrayal of the incredulous events that led up to the Port Arthur massacre. Caleb Jones deserves all the awards for his acting, and I think its one of the best Aussie films of recent times.
#slashtag A movie I've watched twice since catching it on Netflix a few weeks ago - "Coming Home in the Dark" deserves a mention on @thefilmcastpod. Harrowing and tense - NOT A JEFF CANNATA FILM.
My daughter loves the #StarWars Forces of Destiny shorts on Disney+. They are about 2-3 mins long and kid friendly. Great way to introduce kids to Star Wars. #Slashtag
@jeffcannata A last minute film recommendation for you. The Humans is a stage play adaptation. People in rooms talking which I know you are a fan of. Plus Richard Jenkins! #slashtag
#slashtag The Summit of the Gods: a beautifully animated adaptation of a compelling manga (based on a novel) about obsession and mountaineering, driven by fictional speculation surrounding Chomolungma (aka Everest) history. @jeffcannata@davechensky@Devindra
#slashtag Check out HBO Europe’s Beforeigners. Premise: people from the past (Victorian, Stone Age, etc) start appearing in the modern day. Buddy cop setup like Alien Nation but with time-traveling “others.” @Devindra@davechensky@jeffcannata
Old Henry is riveting. Best Western I've seen this year. Career best performance by Tim Blake Nelson. Hope one of you can check it out before the top 10 show #slashtag
Really need the @thefilmcastpod guys to see Mass before the Best of episode is recorded. I agree with a few others, it is the best film of 2021. And no one has seen it, but just hit VOD. Jason Issacs should get an Oscar for his performance. Best to go in TOTALLY BLIND. #slashtag
@Devindra@davechensky@jeffcannata If you need a half hour comedy, Kyle Mooney's Saturday Morning All Star Hits is one of the most absurdly hilarious things I've watched all year. It rewards you to keep watching it! #slashtag
Simple as Water on HBO Max is the darkness @davechensky needs for fuel. A harrowing documentary of simplicity and delicacy. Its essence is life and love, but it's conflict is separation and loss. It put a deep pit in my stomach, but it reveals humanity with tenderness. #slashtag
Shiva Baby is made for @jeffcannata. A movie that has a screenplay worthy of a play, but utilizes the strengths of the medium. Funny and prickly. A deeply compelling work on young adulthood. Phenomenal acting all around. First time director excels. HBO Max #slashtag
@thefilmcastpod not sure if it’s been on the show yet but the music doc SUMMER OF SOUL is a top contender for my end of the year list—it’s as good a #slashtag rec as any and it’s free on Hulu, check it out 👍🏼
@jeffcannata Best film of 2021 just hit VOD. "Mass." My Dinner With Andre style movie w/ Jason Issacs, Martha Plimpton & Ann Dowd. DO NOT read the description, have someone else rent it for you ($3.99) and just watch this masterpiece. It was made for you #slashtag
@Devindra I was listening to you talk about your fascination with the way we handle communication and language in your review of Drive My Car on the Filmcast. Pls check out Last Life In the Universe. It's in my top 5 all time favorite movies. #slashtag
#slashtag Surprised to see none of my favorite film podcasts covered The Last Duel. I was a bit “meh” going in but honestly, I kinda loved it! The premise is dark but the three-perspectives conceit works & I found it propulsive & enjoyable. And the duel itself is a doozy 🗡
