@davechen.bsky.social @devindra.bsky.social @jeffcannata.bsky.social Got a #slashtag for you: The Surfer starring Nicolas Cage. It's an amazing descent into toxic masculinity with a top notch Nic Cage performance. I've been thinking about this film every day since seeing it.

@devindra.bsky.social @davechen.bsky.social @jeffcannata.bsky.social #slashtag Bob Trevino Likes It - Heartfelt, tear-jerking tale of two strangers meeting on the internet. Some plot points and character dynamics are a little too convenient, but easy to forgive when carried by strong performances.
#slashtag Light & Magic season 2 is available... only 3 episodes but just as good as season 1. @jeffcannata.bsky.social I think you enjoyed season 1 so this one is for you.

I recommended this a couple years back on that other hell site but thought I’d re-up it here. ‘The English’, a 6 part series starring Emily Blunt, beautifully shot and I thought was quite unique.

#slashtag @jeffcannata.bsky.social yeah man let me be another in the chorus saying you have to watch Deadwood. It’s got everything you love.
@jeffcannata.bsky.social Jeff, you requested more #slashtag recommendations.
Please give “KNEECAP” a try.
It’s an autobiographical music biopic by an Irish hip hop trio. Someone described it as Trainspotting meets 8 Mile and it fits perfectly.

I #slashtag Dan Scheinert’s THE DEATH OF DICK LONG, an A24 movie described as “dipshit Fargo”.
@jeffcannata.bsky.social described enjoying films where “things spiral out of control, people try their best to be clever and circumstances make them do dumb things…” and I thought of this movie.

#slashtag I want to recommend Suze (Kanopy) as a better Michaela Watkins movie than Heart Eyes (although I did enjoy Heart Eyes) and Humanist Vampire Seeks Consenting Suicidal Person (Mubi/Kanopy) as a better romantic/horror-comedy. Both are heart-warming and I think Jeff especially would like Suze
#slashtag All the talk of accountants on the last Filmcast reminded me of 'Invincible Fight Girl' on Adult Swim! Fun animated series about Andy: destined to be an Accountant, but yearns to be a Wrestler. Classic sports underdog story that wears its anime influences on its sleeves & has lots of heart
Been listening to the filmcast for many years but can’t remember if I’ve ever heard them mention the snappy irish comedy show Derry girls on Netflix. So just in case I’d like to recommend it! Mainly for @devindra.bsky.social and @jeffcannata.bsky.social I think. #slashtag
@davechen.bsky.social blessed us with The Devil's Plan, so I'm returning the favor. @jeffcannata.bsky.social might also dig. Not sure about Devindra.

After 7 years of listening I’m out. You guys are insufferable. Been listening every week for years. You spend more time complaining about Trump than reviewing movies. I challenge you all to make one episode without a current day political reference. Movies are my escape from all this. #slashtag
#slashtag @jeffcannata.bsky.social check out “Stath Let’s Flats”. It’s currently on Peacock, but moves around a bit.

. @jeffcannata.bsky.social #slashtag listening to you guys talk about how u miss recommendations, & I'm thinking (as I mow) "Jeff would LOVE 'The Residence,'" and then of course you go on to detail how much you loved it, which is just awesome. Had I not seen it, that would've been the rec I'd take.
Watched #Karma on #Netflix what a great mini series ...is a dark story of people that you find out throughout the series they are all linked in some way to each other. ...

The #netflix series #WhenLifeGivesYouTangerines has to be one of the best slice of Life ever made. #IU has a stand out performance. This is truly a master class in writing and storytelling, I cannot recommend this enough.

@jeffcannata.bsky.social You know how you love those special one off eps of Mythic Quest? There is an entire show of that, just dropped on Apple TV+. Called "Side Quest." 4 eps all dropped today. Right up your alley! #slashtag @davechen.bsky.social @devindra.bsky.social
@jeffcannata.bsky.social not sure if #slashtag is still a thing but Adolescence on Netflix is a must watch…I might even say masterpiece. Go in unsullied but just be aware it’s about some tough subject matter, not something to stick on when you’re looking for a fun easy watch.
@devindra.bsky.social have you watched the "Absolute Cinema" trailer for Thunderbolts* yet? Its amazing! I'm going to #slashtag it for @davechen.bsky.social and @jeffcannata.bsky.social to watch at a later time, but the trailers for the movie have been top notch so far!
@davechen.bsky.social @devindra.bsky.social Having just watched COMPANION at the AMC Scream Unseen tonight, I REALLY hope it's the main review next week. Since @jeffcannata.bsky.social doesn't watch trailers, he's probably going to be blown away by this one. #slashtag
Just saw Distant last night , did not expect much but I was surprised at how good and fun it is , scifi fans have another one. #AnthonyRamos and #NaomiScott are amazing in it. Also #KistoferHivju character was so good 😆
